| Technical: A Small Family Business stands alongside Way Upstream and Man Of The Moment as one of the most difficult Ayckbourn plays to stage. The immediate problem is the large cast, shortly followed by the set and a venue large enough to cope with it (part of the reason for the scale of the set was to deal with the very large space of The Olivier where the play was premiered). There is very little way to compromise the set as the play requires and depends on a two storey house with all the necessary rooms in order to function properly. | |||
